The Challenge

Why did I decide to start a blog?

Well, the short answer is, it's a Lent thing.

Here's the long explanation: As I was sipping my Mojorita (which is just as good as it sounds) on Mardi Gras, I was trying to think of what to give up for the 40 days before Easter. I didn't feel bad enough giving up soda as I don't drink it that much anymore. I could've given up alcohol, but I'm Irish. As I was biting a nail I thought I should give that up, but five minutes later, there I was, biting my nails again. (It's a bad habit, I know, I'm working on it. Really.) After a few more bad ideas, I suggested to Amie (who by then had copied me and gotten a Mojorita for herself) that maybe I should just try new things throughout the season.

Partially because she looked at me like I had finally said something that was actually a good idea, and mostly because she said she'd do it with me, I decided I would do new things for Lent. In a way, this will probably be fairly challenging for me. I'm the person who knows what she wants before she goes out to eat because chances are I've been to that restaurant before and I know what I like there. So, for example, no more pad thai from Thai Ginger. At least until Easter.

What I've done so far: wine tasting in Portland, starting a blog.

Right now, it's a pretty pathetic list, but it hasn't even been a week yet. Hopefully, by the end of Lent that list will be a bit longer. I'm also going to try to update this fairly regularly. It shouldn't be that hard, work is boring and this gives me something to do. (Maybe one of my new things should be actually working at work...hmmm) If it goes well, I'll keep posting, even after Easter. We'll see.

Oh, one last thing. I'm not sure how I fee about people reading this yet. So if I sent you this link before the 5th or 6th post, consider yourself lucky. :)
